Château Saint Grégoire

Château Saint Grégoire

Bordeaux Wine

It all began in 1999 when, Grégory Goirand, one of a fourth generation of wine-makers and I, his wife Ingrid Gancel, created SCEA HONTANE and began working 1.8 hectares of vines in the AOC Médoc region. At this time we were members of the neighbouring cooperative winery. Our wine was vinified in separate vats and was sold under the brand Château Les Coteaux de Voluzan. Year after year, we increased the area of our estate. In 2015, following differences with the cooperative, we constructed our own winery. With the help of a young, passionate oenologist, Julien Maillet, who dedicated himself to this project, we produced our first vintage. Practically all our harvest was sold wholesale. However, we wanted to keep 25 hectolitres from our best terroirs to sell ourselves in bottles: the Ivar-Aiden vintage. For the man-power, it's a family affair: with brothers and brothers-in-law helping, both as employees and as mutual assistance between farmers. In 2016, our daughter Eva began working with us. Today, we have 22 hectares on a terroir that is mostly made up of clay-limestone soil. A dominance of Merlot (70%), with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, allows us to make a wine that is untypical of the Médoc appellation.
