Founded in 1920, Vignobles Lascaux comprises two distinct family estates. Château Lascaux, located in Saint Martin du Bois in the Libournais region, is in the Bordeaux appellation. Château Tour Bel-Air, located in Saillans, is in the Fronsac appellation.
In 1998, Fabrice Lascaux and his wife Sylvie took over his father's estate, which initially comprised 4 hectares of vines. Since then, they have extended the area to 13 hectares by planting new vines and acquiring a further 6 hectares. In 2007, they expanded their wine range by taking over the 10 hectares of Château Tour Bel-Air, previously owned by Sylvie's parents.Today, the vineyard totals 33 hectares in the Bordeaux and Fronsac appellations, offering a variety of wines representative of the Bordeaux region, including red, white, rosé, clairet and crémant.
In 2020, Vignobles Lascaux began its ecological transition by obtaining High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 certification.
Positioned high up on a sunny ridge, our vineyards benefit from a soil ideally composed of gravel, clay, limestone and sand, bringing distinct structure and elegance to our wines. In addition, over 80% of our vines are planted on steep clay-limestone slopes, ensuring natural drainage and maximum exposure to the sun.
On our 33 hectares of vines, the grape varieties are distributed as follows: 30 hectares dedicated to red grape varieties (Merlot: 80%, Cabernet Sauvignon: 13.5%, Cabernet Franc: 6.5%) and 3 hectares to white grape varieties (Sauvignon Gris: 61%, Sauvignon Blanc: 32%, Muscadelle: 7%).To preserve this exceptional terroir, we have adopted a "culture raisonnée" approach, limiting chemical intervention to a strict minimum. In addition, we have chosen to plant grass between each vineyard plot to prevent soil leaching by run-off, thus encouraging the development of biodiversity, particularly insects and nematodes.
Lascaux Sylvie
This wine shines with raspberry-red colour, deeper than that of a rosé. It releases aromas of ripe red berries (cherry, raspberry) with a finely spiced nose. A wine that is little known, surprising and attractive, aromatic, supple in the mouth with a finish sustained by light tannins. Somewhere between a rosé and a red, vinified with a longer maceration...
