Loire Wine

The estate of the Dozonnerie is a family exploitation located in Chinonin the heart of the Val de Loire. I represent the third generation. The first vine was planted by my grandfather in 1936, date of the creation the controlled designation of origin : Chinon CDO. Then my father kept developing the exploitation by planting vines for about 30 years on tough soils but suitable for the vine. Immersed since my young years in this noble culture of wine, I naturally pursued viticulture and oenology strudis and took upon myself the family exploitation in 1990. My passion for wine has amplified through the years and it is this passion that is today my major force to accomplish this noble job of being a winemaker. My vineyard spreads on the hillsides of Chinon overlooking the whole valley of the Vienne, an affluent of the Loire, from where whe can see the fortress of Chinon. The estate is one of the rare ones under the the appellation Chinon AOC to possess the entire vineyard on the hillsides, benefiting from an exceptionnal exposition. It is also an « aging » vineyard which gains in maturity. All the criterias are gathered to elaborate vines with great expression. The wines I make are from the Cabernet Franc grape variety et are the result of a precise grape assembling from different terroirs of mye state and vines of different ages. In each of our vintage’s specificities, our terroirs are selected in a rigorous way and vinified separately in order to obtain wines of character. I essentially produce red wines on clayey and limey soils but also a little bit of Rosé and more discretely whit wine. Since 1990 we have always had work : we have spread our vineyard, dug in the cellars, expanded the old existing vicinities. The latest work has been the construction in 2003 of a winery that immeidately leads to the cellars. The vineyard is lead by a reasoned fight, grass growing and work on the soil, an important choice in order to respect in the best way possible our environment and the wines that come from it.
