Domaine Bonabaud

Domaine Bonabaud

Bordeaux Wine

Founded in 1919, Château Gauthier is a historic vineyard located on the borders of the Cotes de Blaye and Bourg wine regions, on the Right Bank of the Dordogne and the Gironde estuary. Classified Bordeaux 1er cru in 1946 by the Guide Féret des Grands Vins de Bordeaux, the estate was taken over in 2017 by Fabien Bonabaud, a winegrower in love with the place, and eager to reveal this unique tertiary terroir of mixed sands and gravel, so favorable to the farming of wines of great finesse. The vines are part of Domaine Bonabaud, a beautiful 25 hectare valley bringing together Châteaux Gauthier and Nézereau in a natural environment very rich in biodiversity, where forests, streams and meadows dominate. Since 2019, one century after its founding, Domaine Bonabaud has been certified ‘High Environmental Value’, and is a signatory of the Natura 2000 Charter for the protection of rivers. Faithful to our wine farming principles, we ensure to not only ban harmful chemicals in the vines, but also to minimize the environmental impact of our entire value chain. The return of the vineyard to organic farming will complete this approach in 2021.
