The domain of the Forteresse de Berrye is located on the Saumur appellation, at the heart of a terroir still too unrecognised but with a very high potential on the Berrie’s village turonian slopes. It spreads over 12 ha of vines around the fortress. The diversity and quality of the grapevines’ plots, located on calcareous soils covering the tufa, enable us to produce several Loire’s appellations such as Saumur Rouge, Saumur Blanc, Crémant de Loire and Coteaux de Saumur. The domain sets up needed actions to ensure compliance with the environment and to improve its wines’ quality. It started its conversion in organical agriculture and will soon be certified. The Forteresse de Berrye also committed itself in agroforestry, beekeeping and eco-pasture. It’s also possible, on reservation, to organise tasting visits of the fortress, remarkable site classified as historical monument. Wines are vinified and aged at the castle, in a troglodytic chai, which enable exceptional conditions for wines’ evolution. Come and discover both characterful wines to drink as of now and sensational ones to let grow old. White wines are Château de Berrye’s emblem, produced from the Chenin variety. Expressive and fruity red wines are made up of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. 1 delivery per week.
