Château Caillou Grand Cru Classé in 1855 has been purchased in 1909 by Mister Ballan. In 1997, Marie-José, his granddaughter managed the property with her husband Michel Pierre until 2017 when their two sons Jean-Noël and Sébastien took over the family property. The vineyard spreads on about 18 hectares of vines and the property is located in Barsac, a village located in the South of Bordeaux. The most famous grape variety in the region is called Sémillon and it is essential to produce Sauternes. The late harvest is made manually. The selection is done meticulously on each bunch of grape and it explains the unique character of the elaboration of the Sauternes.
