CHATEAU BAS

CHATEAU BAS

Provence
The history of Château Bas can be summed up in the Roman temple, built in the 1st century BC and the St Cézaire chapel, attached to the temple and dedicated in 1054. The Château, built on the site of a Gallo-Roman city, restored in the 17th century, is full of charm; it is a successful mixture of rusticity and elegance, and the grounds alone are worth a detour. But it is not enough to sum up the history of this place through its stones, although sacred, without also talking about the landscapes and the men who work them. From the 10th century to the present day, from Raymond de Montredon to Georges de Blanquet, the site is so steeped in agricultural activity that the architects that built the buildings had to be inspired by the light and harmony of the place.

This transparent-coloured wine evokes aromas of brioche and white flowers, while the palate is full-bodied but well balanced for the vintage. This wine will really open up towards the end of the year to accompany seafood at Christmas. Serve cool as an aperitif, with fine and elaborate dishes. Fine fish (skate, salmon or with a fresh goat's cheese)....

Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre for this wine that opens on red-fruit liqueur, red pepper and a few animal notes. The palate follows the same aromatic path, proving to be dense and full-bodied, but also very virile and tannic.
