Bastien Lanusse: a young up-and-coming talent at Château du Pouey

Smartly dressed, with brown hair and a steady gaze. At 26 years old, Bastien Lannusse is certainly a "go-getter". Three years ago, this young man set himself a challenge: to follow in the footsteps of his father and take over the entire management of Château du Pouey.

This 22-hectare wine growing business located in the heart of South West France has been in the family for four generations and covers 3 appellations: Côtes de Gascogne, Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh.   Wine-tourism events within the Estate   When Bastien took on the job, he set himself two objectives: continuing the family tradition, while injecting a modern spirit and running the Château Du Pouey. In the vineyards, he applies the knowledge passed on to him by his father. "I try to produce aromatic and gourmet wines that give us pleasure without demeaning the typicity of the terroir", says Bastien who practices sustainable wine growing.   However, when it comes to selling his bottles, he prefers to innovate. While his father distributed his cuvées exclusively with a commercial group, Bastien decided to use wine merchants, delicatessens and CHR (café, hotel, restaurant) sales circuits: sectors that are drastically changing.   The young winemaker also takes great pride in developing wine tourism at Château du Pouey.
